Ponibooru is THE place to find pony art. Short of someone making a complete mirror, I don't think there will ever be another place as complete as Ponibooru is. Please reconsider at least giving it to someone else so they can run it, or dumping the complete database so someone can recreate all the comments/tags/scores/etc.

Also, how big is the All-Safe torrent? My torrent client refuses to load it. If I understand what BEncode editor is telling me, it's 1.6TB?

That might just be one of the biggest torrents ever created. The largest torrent on TPB is the Geocities torrent at 641.4GB, and apparently there's a 2010 Soccer match torrent that's 746.7GB somewhere.

The main reason why I liked ponibooru is because I didn't need an account to view censored material.

I also second not going to Derpibooru. This fandom is more than sugar and spice and everything nice. Derpibooru wants to remain not marked as "containing potential adult oriented content" on OpenDNS, whereas all of 413chan.net is. I can't connect to the site in places that uses OpenDNS-based content filters. Ponibooru <u><b>is</b></u> an exception to the rule. All that stuff is hidden until you register to reveal it.

I vote for Eco to hand it over to a talented person who can manage the unique demands that Ponibooru offers.

This is why derpibooru will NEVER replace ponibooru. Ponibooru was a complete archive of everything pony. Ponibooru's existence since nearly the beginning of the fandom has made it an invaluable resource to the fandom. Derpibooru's decision to only import the highest rated images, as well as to censor certain images, means it will NEVER be able to replace ponibooru.

I seriously hope someone sets up a ponibooru clone so that we can have a nice site again. Ideally it would contain all of the images with the comments and such ported over, but just having the images, tags, and sources (which are all in the torrents) would be nice.

We went with banning fluffy pony because we believe it has as much to do with actual pony as the Carebears. People yelled at us, so we ran a poll and have now retracted. Yes, we actually admitted to making a mistake and changed our ways, shock horror.

The decision to import "only" the top 40k images (regardless of rating) is because we know a /large/ deal of the PB database is dupes and spam. We'll be importing sources and tags as well. You're more than welcome to upload whatever you think is missing.

Our content policy is now pretty much identical to PB's; keep it pony or fandom related and legal in our jurisdiction. Otherwise just tag your shit correctly and we don't care. If you think we're censoring something pony related, call it out clearly.

The point still stands. It'll never be a complete replacement. Ponibooru is also very high in Google ranking, and has helped me countless times in finding the source of images. It'll take a very long time, if ever, for derpibooru to become that useful.

It's only been "up" for two weeks... Not sure what the hell you're expecting. It's also nearly at 30k images, and that's before the ponibooru import.

He's already released the contents of the ponibooru database. Ponibooru itself is running on a hacked-up outdated database system and is pretty damn expensive to host (and you've all seen just how well it was hosted). Anyone moderately sane taking over would make a new site on a new host.

My only issue with Derpi now is the recompression that happens with the images. It's going to make personal dupe deletion from dumps annoying as hell once you get both those and the original files floating around. Right now I don't bother saving anything that doesn't include a source for me to get the original at.

Yeah, I get that; but we need to do compression, it saves us a lot of space. A 7mb PNG can be compressed down to 4mb, for example, and that's kind of a big deal.

Get Dupdetector or similar, it'll check the image itself and not just hashes.
