Anyway, ooh, someone gave some feedback, that means I get to as well! Spoilered, of course.
>Cross Stitched
This was pretty nice, for an OC/mane cast shipfic, right up until Spike burned down Rarity's Boutique to kill a pony in a fit of jealous rage. Then I felt dirty.
>Crepuscularity
OH DAT TITLE. Shipping Rarity with Twilight's mom? No thanks.
>Whirlwind Romance
This was great! I laughed in the middle, and I really enjoyed the friendshipping between Rarity and Pinkie, not to mention Pinkie deep-but-entirely-in-character thoughts on the 'game' of socializing in the fashion world. Would have been my favorite if not for...
>Art of the Dress
Oh. My. Golly. I started off being slightly bored by the prose; then I realized just how much there was of it and was all "WHO WRITES THIS MUCH IN 24 HOURS SERIOUSLY?" And then I fell in love. I was amazed by the interweaving of dream sequences with Rarity slowly losing her mind, and the scenes of her yelling at/bonding with her sister. The dresses were almost sinister, their effects Lovecraftian (this story is now referred to as "The Call of Dressthulhu"). This was beautiful and incredible, and I was absolutely blown away by it... until the ending. For a piece such a this, an ambiguous ending is called for, but there is far too much ambiguity as this stands. There needs to be more for the reader to grasp onto. Who was making the dresses? What happened to Rarity? Hell, were the dresses even real? This will definitely benefit from being expanded after the contest is over.
>The Bead
This was interesting, but I found it gritty in all the wrong places and overall unsatisfying. I mean, she goes to buffalo country, which was interesting, and then she talks to an old buffalo and goes home. Not to mention very non-pony word choices overall that drew me out of the story.
>Luck of the Draw
This was just okay. Didn't really grab me at all, and the ending was wonky as hell. At least it didn't go with the "There was no lucky charm, the magic was in you all along" ending I was anticipating.
>Where the Wild Roses Grow
To be honest, I didn't even read more than a couple pages. I knew how I was voting by this point, it didn't grab me and I don't even remember what it was about.
In closing, I hope all these authors revisit their stories to clean them up and submit them to EQD or something. I have no idea who might have written what because I think the only author I know I've read before is NTSTS and even then I'm not really familiar with his style. I'm excited to see the results!
