First up, that aforementioned sonnet. It's dedicated to artists like Megasweet and Madmax, who inspired me to start drawing, to bronies in general, and lastly, to a certain gloomy oversoul, without who I'd never watch this show.

~

Chance encounter with a friend, the path set
For a walk into a magical land,
Equus reified, the rule of Sol set
Upon diverse inhabitants, abund.

Began with quest that ended quite early,
The tales have been delightful to the eye,
Though the ending moral can seem draggy,
The adventures have pleased both girl and guy.

Fascination awakened, pencil sought,
Returned to art, inspired by many
An artist, whose unique works they have brought
To the many, fanon alike canon, brony.

The curtain may be closing on the first act,
But for the many months of mem’ries, fact.

Another poem I did on request, about Scootaloo's feelings for Rainbow Dash:

~

For often a time I look at the sky,
And likened its colour to the body
Of the swift mare who holds domain in my
Eye, Rainbow Dash, the rainbow tailed pony !

While I, a young filly, can only walk,
Cloud chasing was like breathing air since youth,
for her, the weather was never a balk,
and against doubters, her smart talk was smooth.

Have a Problem ? Cleared in ten seconds flat !
Twenty percent cooler ? How rightly so !
Such words of wisdom I took to as true tact,
Words of an idol, my own true hero !

Rainbow Dash, There is no pony like her,
As I (flutter/ scoot with) my wings, to soar with her

~

Note: For the last line, the words flutter is interchangeable since one can also imagine the poem is from Fluttershy's POV.

It's a sweet start and a good idea. Actually, FiM inspired me to write a poem for the first time in probably thirty years. (No rhymes worked so I went just with the heart: http://fairy-slayer.deviantart.com/art/MLP-A-Prayer-for-My-Sister-194104827 ) I hoped to write two, as bookends, but the first one didn't get a lot of notice and now I'm used to seeing the unfinished one every day. Maybe I'll get to it...

Anyway, the thought of picking up the pencil struck me too for that reason even if that wasn't quite what you meant. The first part definitely fits with how most people came to watch the series: through a friend. Nice jab at (what I call) the "Mork calling Orson" bit at the end of each episode. (Again, me = old. That's why I also liked you mentioning "Sol" because I was only two years behind him in high school.)

(I also got a laugh from the main page:
> Fascination awakened, pencil sought,
> Message too long. Click here to view the full text.
Yes, I'm easily amused.)

For the Scootaloo poem, I wish you'd stuck with it just being Scootaloo's point of view instead of the choice at the end. That's jarring when I've opened my mind up and am trying to "drink text straight into it." Also, it has an impetuous feeling to it that suits Scootaloo. Her pure admiration for Dash shines through without any hint of 'shipping.

By the way, I can pretty much guess who your favorite pony is just from your name.

...unless that really is your name and I'm just reading way too much into it. ;)

Heh, there are many ways to interpret 'picking up the pencil'. I do poetry from time to time, but its drawing which is what FiM got me into. I used to lack confidence when it came to drawing, but thanks to MLP, I'm ready to upload my lousy art and take criticism. But indeed, 'picking up the pencil' is a motif with a lot of interpretations, and I liked, no, loved yours.

>>Message too long. Click here to view the full text.
1...2...3.. hey, it's ten syllalbles ! ALmost. Just remove the 'the'.... I ahve to say, that was pretty nifty.

As for that, you're right. It was a last minute addition to add in 'flutter' as an alternate word when I should have just stuck to 'scoot off'. Also, the poem was written with Scoot's POV in mind, and Fluttershy's POV doesn't really match.

~

As to my favourite pony, huh ? Well, there are two, but you may have correctly guessed one of them. For the record, though, my tripname was taken after a character from Ruby Gloom... but I've been thinking of taking a more 'official' poet/artist name.

Btw, I'll give my thoughts on your poem in the next post.

Ruby Gloom is one of my favorites too. Put a cute and sweet redhead into any show and I'd have to watch. Iris is pretty fantastic too, and often I think she understands the world a little better than most, even if she never articulates it. (A friend also requested a dark A/U RG fanfic and Iris ended up being pretty awesome.)

Maybe I'm all wrong about your favorite(s) after all. I'm working on a story and decided to search for a meaning in the baby names database only to find out what "Iris" means.

Are they both pegasi?

And, thanks for introducing me to MLP: FiM. I have to admit I was hesitant at first, but I came to lvoe its show for what it was.

This was the request from Ponychan:

>>could you write a poem about something deep and negative and make it sound positive and innocent, but without making the reader accept it as that.... I don't care what's it about, all I want is a lot of weirdness.

And I ended up doing three poems. The first is a fairly mild affair of Ponyville becoming a dungeon:

https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1sY-uEnpv6xvk6mFyzW_TOC2mA5eRuzwSfF6pXgwd97A

The second one is my favourite. Its based of pic related:

And here's the third poem, with apologies to Sprinkles, since the idea was based off a certain story by him.... The other inspiration was of a pic similar to pic related (wish I could find that pic)

https://docs.google.com/document/pub?id=1q7S4_olAwzZdSwwlnw1h99cJj9EZhuPrWmAMW-fSK5w

It has some gore and basically portrays Rarity the same way 'Cupcakes' portrays Pinkie Pie, so if that's your sort of thing, do avoid it. (on a separate note: it has a good ending)

I was working in a little piece here. Nah, that's not true, I'll be typing this as I think it.

Why does it always seems like I feel nothing?
Death or Life, I can't make my mind, wich instinct do I follow?
For every fucking time I decide to move on and do thigs
A stronger impulse drives me to numbness and self destruction.
With the loath I so usually feel towards miself, my will to do stuff fades away.
Isolated for my whole life, feels like my emotions blow up in the middle of a really thick glass bootle.
Watching porn here and there, reading conversations I don't play part in.
Procrastinating life itself because I'm too coward to fucking dare.
And when all is felt and done, it feels like nothing happened at all.
NOTHING AT ALL. Like if the storm just got locked away somewhere else.

Fuck it. Fuck it all. See if I care.

Hello pony poets!

Iris suggested I post this here, so here goes! I hope you like it. It comes from a request for a nursery rhyme based on Luna's banishment.

High in the sky, there is a sad story
Told of a time long ago
But little fillies, there is no need to worry
The story is harmless, you know

In that time long gone, there was a princess, with hair the deepest of sapphire
She and her sister, they ruled the skies, and her sister's power she did admire.
For she ruled the moon, and her sister the sun, they spun, in an eternal dance.
In the sky, they did sing, they did spin, they did play, until it happened upon one mischace
Under the sun, the ponies did frolic, they laughed, and they ran under the sunbeams
But when the moon shone, through the clouds of the night, they left her alone for their dreams
She was left alone, in the clouds of her home, to stare at the emptiness below
In the sky, she was sad, she was lonely and mad, at those, who would sleep, through night, she loved so
They say, that her heart, it grew angry, it grew dark, as her jelously rose in her chest
So on that day, as her sister brought the sun to it's rest, she let it consume her, and you know the rest
The sisters they did fight, they did battle, the sky was filled, as those who had once loved did war
And it was the one, who controled the sun, who was victor forced to banish her sister forever more.
So, little fillies, in the night, in the sky, in that moon that does hang there, so close but so far
Little fillies look up, you'll see her, the mare of the night, trapped in the moon, alone again amoung the shining stars.

Once upon a time, I saw an AMV that combined an anime with a poem by e e cummings, some scenes from Texhnolyze and some really trippy music.

So,t hsi poem combines three things: (1) a poem (2)The Scootabuse meme, along with Scherzo's pic of Infernaloo, Scootaloo after her NMM trasnformation (3) the music 'Magia' by Kalafina, which was used as the ending theme for Madoka Magica. I felt the song choice was apt because it talks about the price of magic, a common theme in that series.

I'm cold.
I try to keep my natural heat, but nothing can melt the ice ive in my heart.
i jump and when i jump my feet don't move from the ground. It's a curse, an eternal curse.
I walk and the eyes of the people just pierce through me, as if i didn't exist.
I can't do anything.
I look at myself, but my eyes don't see anyhting.
just darkness.
I'm cold.

Personally speaking, I think you're using too many personal pronouns. And try a more varied diction (my own vocabulary is limited, and I need to expand it further)

Just some critique... um.. if you don't mind that is.

Nice to meet you Trela. It's a pleasure.

And, I saved your clop-poem:

Mistress of the moon i beg thee
i don't want to climb your lemon tree
it's dark and fruitless and yet you scream
don't you really want my horse cream?

~

I don't usually do clop-poetry, but it real cool if you would do that sort of thing. (and I might do it... though under a different pseudonym)

I'm guilty of Ubris, my dear flower, i'm sorry.

Trying to redeem myself i've made up a little something.

Terror and Pain, she shall strike soon
Terror and Pain, dead in the gloom.
Domina mea calma il mio spirito
Oh mia padrona muoia l' indomito!
Nightmare my love we shall be free,
but please sing the end of this monstrosity.
Villages burning,kids crying their plight
Assassins killing for homes in the night.
What have i done oh why do i endure
to follow my lady with my loving cure
the end is nigh, for me and for them
how could i resist without my loving gem?
Death takes its toll,my horn glistens with blood
They praise me, they love me , for i've killed a god.
But i can't stop thinking about what i have done,
and that is the reason why i need to be gone.
a note in my hoof her love in my heart
will be my last companions in my final part.
So farewell equestria as i whisper goodbye
For now it is time for me mistress and I
to reunite, no sorrow!it is a delight,
i bid you farewell, Celestia's Light!
the night air out of the window smells of her scent
so sweet and so tempting ,it helps my descent.
the air whips my tongue, caresses my face
i can feel it! it's her! her touch filled with grace
so desperately close, the grass is so green
we could have stopped the madness my queen...

I'm gonna give that one a try. I must say that comic gives some really intriguing ideas.

Also, Ego accepted it, though she noted that she has some other commissions she had to tend to first. I'll send another message sometime tomorrow to recheck.

Iris, if you're still around, I'd like to ask you for a favour.

I once requested a poem written by Spike for Rarity. I came up with an idea for a story that could use some poetry and I'd like to include your work if you'll give me permission to.
>> No. 10911
>>10887
Are you talking about crushed diamonds ?

I'm fine with that, as long as you source the poem to me. If you want, I could also do a new poem for your fic to complement the old one.
>> No. 10915
>>10911
Yep, Crushed Diamonds. If you've got the time to spare I'd love another poem. Don't put yourself out any for my sake though.

General premise is more or less the same: a poem for Rarity from Spike that more or less tells her he loves her. Now, without trying to give away too much if you could work in the theme of maturity, something along the lines of Spike being a tad more grown up and having more than an infantile crush, that'd be boss.

Otherwise, feel free to do whatever, I'm sure it'll be great. And thanks again and in advance.
