Hello pony poets!
Iris suggested I post this here, so here goes! I hope you like it. It comes from a request for a nursery rhyme based on Luna's banishment.
High in the sky, there is a sad story
Told of a time long ago
But little fillies, there is no need to worry
The story is harmless, you know
In that time long gone, there was a princess, with hair the deepest of sapphire
She and her sister, they ruled the skies, and her sister's power she did admire.
For she ruled the moon, and her sister the sun, they spun, in an eternal dance.
In the sky, they did sing, they did spin, they did play, until it happened upon one mischace
Under the sun, the ponies did frolic, they laughed, and they ran under the sunbeams
But when the moon shone, through the clouds of the night, they left her alone for their dreams
She was left alone, in the clouds of her home, to stare at the emptiness below
In the sky, she was sad, she was lonely and mad, at those, who would sleep, through night, she loved so
They say, that her heart, it grew angry, it grew dark, as her jelously rose in her chest
So on that day, as her sister brought the sun to it's rest, she let it consume her, and you know the rest
The sisters they did fight, they did battle, the sky was filled, as those who had once loved did war
And it was the one, who controled the sun, who was victor forced to banish her sister forever more.
So, little fillies, in the night, in the sky, in that moon that does hang there, so close but so far
Little fillies look up, you'll see her, the mare of the night, trapped in the moon, alone again amoung the shining stars.
