What do you think is the hardest thing to design when making an OC pony? Picture totally unrelated but adorable.
For me it would be either name or cutie mark. For some others it appears the "original" part is the hardest. There are like 400 OC's with a black coat/red mane and tail color scheme.
>>966 Alright, originality is my problem too. My pony OC apparently resembles another OC by a way more popular artist too closely and i have trouble making her different. Also cutie marks are hard. Little works of design they are.
In my opinion it is not the design, it is the personality. In the end you can give a pony any color you want or hairstyle, but if it doesn`t have a fitting name or a peronality that actually gives the "design" life, you can just throw the character away.
Mane and tail. Definitely.
getting it all to "work" ya know what i mean? like you get two good pieces of pony but they dont quite "fit"
Because I'm more of a writer than an artist, for me it's his look. I know his tribe, backstory, interests, etc., and I've got his cutie mark down in my head, but the mane and tail styles and entire color scheme are "???".
The cutie mark is always the hardest for me. I can know a pony's personality, looks, age, height, flaws- basically everything but the cutie mark. It's really annoying.
I cannot make a OC for the life of me. I can come up with a personality or some quirky backstory(to my standards at least) but that's it. What frustrates me to no end is the name. I can't even start until i have a name, and after i do somehow decide on one it falls flat thanks to the lack of everything else.
>>1160 Can't get it as in can't draw it properly, or can't get it as in can't think of it? >>1161 >I can't even start until i have a name You're doing it wrong, IMHO. With ponies I'd say the name should be the finishing touch that encapsulates their whole being.
The hardest part, of course, is not making it Sue. Because apparently people have an absurd amount of trouble with that part.
Id say the hardest part for me is I have a tablet and cant draw worth horse shit( getting tips from freinds though) so I'm tucked, but would love to colab on a joint OC if anyonea interested, I have woke time.
Definitely the cutie marks, especially as most of the OCs I make are 'ponysonas' for my unambitious teenage friends.
Oh man, for me it's coming up with a cohesive theme! the colourscheme, name, cutie mark and personality all have to tie together and form a character that's interesting to draw/have/play/look at. It's a lot harder than normal OCs or even FCs, to me!
